Established in Nebraska in 2009, SuperGlass Windshield Repair is the largest “repair only” franchise worldwide. Boyd Baillie is the owner of the local SuperGlass Windshield Repair franchise whose territory spans from Council Bluffs, IA out to North Platte, which includes 43 counties in Nebraska and two in Iowa.
Tell us a little about your business. – We fix rock chips and cracks better than anybody! SuperGlass has a state-of-art system that is second to none, which allows us to perform repairs faster and with much better results. We are also environmentalists who mix our own chemicals and always try to save the original factory seal, which is crucial as 8%-12% of our local landfills are comprised of windshields that will not biodegrade because of the laminate plastic in the middle of them. In addition to chips and cracks, SuperGlass takes scratches out of all types of glass and restores headlights. We specialize in doing fleet work, but welcome all clients. SuperGlass is mainly a mobile service because we believe in serving the consumer by coming to them, instead of inconveniencing them with bringing their vehicle into a shop. In addition to repair and restoration services, we also offer a unique coating called SuperVirusShield which was made especially for surface protection in locker rooms, office buildings, medical offices, rental vehicles, etc. SuperVirusShield kills a host of toxins and bacteria, including mold, and prevents them from returning.
How did you get started in the business? – I wanted to work for myself.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Getting the public and businesses in Nebraska to see and believe that SuperGlass has the best product on the market at the lowest cost. Loyalty plays a big role in the Nebraska market and change is not easy for us. Most people don’t realize that a broken windshield can be repaired, or that their insurance may cover the damage at no charge without the worries of using deductibles or their rates going up! Studies have proven that as opposed to replacing the entire windshield, SuperGlass repairs 98% of the jobs that are given to them whereas our competitors repair 22%. So 76% of consumers are getting their windshields needlessly replaced–that’s a huge margin! We can repair at a fraction of the cost it takes to replace.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Buying a SuperGlass franchise and making a go of it!
Tell us a little about your family. – I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Laurie for almost 20 years. We have three down-to-earth, successful children. Sophia (18) got a job the day she turned 16 at Valentino’s and exactly a year later won the “Employee of the Year” Award–all while maintaining a 3.7 GPA. Sebastian (14) loves soccer and his Xbox One, and is currently working on his Eagle Scout Award. Sarah (12) is a straight ‘A’ student who has her babysitting certificate and truly loves to babysit!
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Spending time with my family and making them laugh, or just sitting on my porch relaxing.
What are you the most proud of? – Definitely my wife and my children!
