The Nebraska Credit Union League honored Tom Bolton, longtime Chairman and Board Director of Liberty First Credit Union as the 2014 Volunteer of the Year during its Annual Awards banquet on June 5th. Tom Bolton has served on the Board of Directors for Liberty First Credit Union for over 28 years and has been a member of the credit union since 1969. Since 1995 Mr. Bolton has held the position of Board Chairman, previously holding every other position available on the board including Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and Director. Tom has guided Liberty First through five new branch openings, two remodeling projects, a name change and the hiring of three CEOs. He believes in the members and employees of Liberty First and has guided their financial needs through difficult economic times, successfully making Liberty First the largest credit union in Lincoln, Nebraska. Tom has also helped to lead and support the growth of Liberty First in their community through the initiative of Banking in the Schools Program which has allowed Liberty First CU to open student run school branches that serve four Lincoln elementary schools.
