Did you know that elderly people over the age of 65 are more prone to heat stress than younger people and they do not adjust as easily to sudden changes in temperature?  In fact, heat stroke is the most serious heat-related illness for the elderly.  The Coalition of Older Adult Health Promotion (COAHP) is pleased to announce that they will be sponsoring their second annual “Be a Fan of Seniors” Fan Drive on May 22nd.  The Fan Drive is a way that individuals and businesses can help keep our Lincoln seniors cool during the warm summer months.  All of the fans collected will be donated to Aging Partners for distribution to older adults in Lincoln and the surrounding areas.  Those who wish to donate are encouraged to drop off fans from 3-5 p.m. at Lincoln Neighborhood Pharmacy, located at 6811 O Street.  For more information about the “Be a Fan of Seniors” Fan Drive, please contact Cindy Pelan at (402) 434-8081.  For more information about the Lincoln COAHP, visit www.lincolncoahp.com.
