Business leaders looking to have their buildings become nationally recognized as environmentally sustainable are invited to a two-day course being offers by the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC) on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). On Thursday, Nov. 7 and Friday, Nov. 8, the NBDC will teach representatives from area businesses how to earn certification from Green Globes Professional, a national and affordable alternative to LEED certification. Green Globes promotes businesses to advance the overall environmental performance and sustainability of a wide range of commercial and governmental buildings. The seminar will take place inside UNO’s Mammel Hall, located at 6708 Pine Street on the university’s Pacific Campus. Mammel Hall has been Gold Certified by LEED since 2011.
The course will teach businesses the background, features and major components of Green Globes; including a detailed explanation of the Green Globes assessment and certification process and all of the Green Globes modules. The $875 fee includes application fee, materials and final exam plus initial two-year certification. The instructor for the course is Sheryin Ansari, a general contractor with the Kiewit Corporation where he is responsible for developing sustainability programs for corporations, buildings and projects.
