The Berry Law Firm recently announced that their team received a favorable verdict in the case of Thomas F. Davis v. State of Nebraska, CI 10-1142 (Hall County, Nebraska District Court).  Thomas F. Davis was convicted of killing his wife in 1969 after her death in a single-car accident outside of Grand Island, NE.  Davis’ conviction was overturned in 1970 by the Nebraska Supreme Court; however, the reversal, retrial, and subsequent acquittal came after Davis had spent over a year in the Nebraska Penitentiary, where he was stabbed, witnessed several homicides, lost his business, and lost custody of his seven children.  In 2009, Davis filed a claim against the State of Nebraska under the Nebraska Claims for Wrongful Conviction and Imprisonment Act.  After more than a three year pursuit of justice, Davis was vindicated of wrongdoing in his wife’s death and the State was ordered to pay Davis $250,000 plus costs.

Attorney John Stevens Berry, founder of Berry Law Firm, in response to the news of the verdict, stated:  Since 1965, Berry Law Firm has worked diligently to protect the rights of the accused.  I am very proud of Attorneys Perry Pirsch and Matt Aerni for their work to ensure justice was done.
