Profile by Sanford is a comprehensive weight management program designed by Sanford Health physicians and scientists to be a simple, effective, and sustainable solution.  Steve Holzwarth is the owner of the Profile by Sanford franchise in Lincoln, as well as one of the Certified Profile Coaches on staff.

Tell us a little about your business. – The Profile plan was put together by a team of scientists and physicians at Sanford Health, the largest rural, not-for-profit healthcare facility in the country, back in 2012.  Each of our members has a weight loss plan that is tailored individually to fit their lifestyle, and meets one-on-one with a certified health coach as frequently as each week for a year.  We also utilize up-to-date technology with a digital smart scale that syncs to the member’s wireless router at home, measuring weight, BMI, BMR, total fat percentage, muscle mass, bone density, and hydration percentage. Those measurements are then posted directly to an online profile on our website which makes it easy for both the member and coach to track progress. Our main objective is to implement weight loss and healthier options into people’s own lifestyle. We don’t want to change the way people live their lives, we just want them to be healthier in their own lives.

How did you get started in the business? – My parents started the Profile plan in late 2012 shortly after the first store opened in Sioux Falls, SD and they both were very successful. My dad lost close to 70 lbs. and my mom about 30 lbs. in 8 months. Profile was looking to open a store in Lincoln, and particularly looking for people interested in owning a franchise. My dad and I decided to take on the challenge and open the first Profile store in Nebraska.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Getting our name out there in the community. We are the first store outside of Sanford’s footprint, so that’s made it a little more difficult for us. I feel the Lincoln community is starting to hear more about us and it has shown in the number of members we’ve had sign up in the last couple of months.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – The success we’ve had reaching out and forming partnerships with numerous businesses in Lincoln and surrounding towns.

Tell me a little about your family. – My wife, Amanda, is a video production specialist for Huskervision in the UNL athletic department. Her main focus is women’s basketball. We also have a son, Landon, who will turn 2 in April. My parents both live in Sioux Falls, SD and I have one brother who resides in Nashville, TN.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Spending time with my family is by far my favorite thing to do. I love playing sports and being active. I am an avid KU basketball fan and a Husker sports fan. It’s hard not to like the Huskers in Lincoln; the fans are a joy to be around.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Never take anything for granted and always smile because life is good.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Playing tennis.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Bison Witches.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Dave Matthews.
