John Henry’s Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning has been serving the Lincoln community since 1996, and is dedicated to building and developing a team of outstanding individuals who provide premium quality products and services, while sharing a total commitment to regularly exceeding the expectations of their customers.  Jon Becker is a Comfort Consultant at John Henry’s.

Tell us a little about your business. – John Henry’s is a fun place to work! Our team is very close. We care about the health of our community and saving lives. We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in all kinds of weather to provide true customer service.

How did you get started in the business? – I spent 12 years in sales in Lincoln and was considering a new path that would allow me to spend more time with my family.  Left, right, forward and even backward were all optional directions at the time when a choice was made clear by a chance (so he says) meeting with Jack Zohner of John Henry’s.  Due to the integrity of John Henry’s and all of the awards the company has won, it was an easy choice.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – In sales you have to be self-motivated.  There is no clock.  No hourly wage.  No set in stone schedule.  No physical measure of productivity.  You must have your own drive, your own time management and your own sense of self-worth when you’ve provided a customer with a great value and experience.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I have been awarded for such things as top product knowledge, top sales, best presentation, promoted a few times but my greatest accomplishment is the amount of people that have come back to me numerous times or referred numerous friends and family to me.  To have earned their trust to that level makes me beam with pride.

Tell us a little about your family. – I married my wife Shellee nine years ago.  She is finishing a post-master’s degree program at UNK to become a school psychologist.  We hope that she is able to possibly intern here with LPS.  We have two incredible sons, Ethan (6) and Owen (3).  They are our whole life and we enjoy every moment with them.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Developing an attitude that there are no limitations to what I can do.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Spending time with my wife and boys.

What are you the most proud of? – I am most proud of being able to recognize a good thing when it is in front of me and having the presence of mind to make the jump.  This has panned out twice in my life; once when I married my wife and secondly when I joined the John Henry’s team.

What local non-profit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – John Henry’s is a corporate sponsor of United Way, who spreads donations out to some very needy charities.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Hu Hot is definitely at the top of that list but I’m also a huge fan of Mazatlan.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – George W. Bush.
