J4K Cleaning provides quality commercial cleaning services to all types of businesses in Lincoln and Lancaster County. The company has been in business since 1996 and specializes in janitorial services, carpet cleaning and hard surface floor care. Jeff Fillmore is the owner of J4K Cleaning and personally runs the day-to-day operations with the assistance of his wife, Kellie.
How did you get started in the business? – I was a facilities supervisor for the local phone company, and when they were bought out by a national company our department was eliminated. My wife and I were cleaning a physician’s office at night at the time and we decided to try to go into the commercial cleaning business full-time. We picked up our first big account and never looked back. I am proud to say we still have those first two accounts that we started with.
Tell me a little about your family. – My wife, Kellie, and I have 5 great children–four boys and one girl. My two oldest sons are involved in the business with us. My two younger sons are both black belts in Taekwondo and my daughter is very involved in dance and was in the Nutcracker this year.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I enjoy shooting my compound bow, spending time with family and friends, and spending time with our two Greater Swiss Mountain dogs.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I am a 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo and a specialty certified instructor. I attend the Lincoln Taekwondo Center with two of my sons; one of whom is also a 3rd degree and one who is a 1st degree.
What are you the most proud of? – I am very proud of my wife who not only does an amazing job helping to run the business but an amazing job of raising our children. I am also proud of my children. And I am very proud of all of my family members who have worked in and helped our business to grow over the years.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – A simple piece of advice given to me by my dad when I was young was that anything worth doing is worth doing right. It has always stuck with me.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Integrity
If you had a theme song, what would it be? – We Are The Champions by Queen.
Which talent would you most like to have? – I would love to be able to play the guitar. Two of my sons are very good at it, but they did not get that talent from me!
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The last good book I read was Anthem by Ayn Rand.
What is your favorite movie? – The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
What is your favorite TV show? – Survivor
What is your favorite local restaurant? – Lincoln has many great restaurants so it is difficult to pick just one. But my two favorites would have to be Buzzard Billy’s and Fireworks.
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – George Washington.
