Tell me a little about your business. – My goal in becoming a ‘consultant’ was to take away the fear of social media for those who wanted to utilize social media but felt overwhelmed. Amazing how many times people call me and say, “I have to have a Facebook page, can you help me?” My response, “Before you start down the rabbit hole, let’s talk.” For many small businesses, Facebook may not be the best fit. I help small businesses figure out what is the best fit.

How did you get started in the business? – I stumbled into social media when my son joined Facebook. I love to talk to people but it did take me a year or two to make the connection – social media expands my social network. I’ve not looked back since!

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Trying to figure out what I want to be when I ‘grow up’.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – I got my bachelor’s degree as a non-traditional student and single mother. I continue to believe in ongoing or continuing education which is why I’m a certified HootSuite Professional as well as a certified Constant Contact service provider. Social media is an always evolving tool; it’s essential to stay up on it.

Tell me a little about your family. – I have a handsome and intelligent son who is an assistant manager of the Simply Mac store here in Lincoln. He continues to impress me with his kind heart and wise choices.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The first one was when I joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Becoming a Marine not only allowed me to travel the world but gave me the confidence to move forward in anything I do. The other was the birth of my son; truly realizing there was now someone who meant more than me.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I like to read and hang out with friends. I’m also a big action movie fan – Marvel is my new favorite!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Do or do not, there is no try” (A big Star Wars fan too).

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Positive.

Which talent would you most like to have? – Any musical talent.  I only sing in church because God forgives all sins!

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – A counselor or coach; I enjoy helping people.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Jesus Christ seems the obvious person for me but I like the idea of talking to many historical figures – What advice would you give to yourself? What would you do differently? Why did you do what you did?
