McGill Restoration Inc. has been in business since 1985, and currently employs approximately 65 concrete and masonry restoration professionals. With annual revenues of approximately $9 million, McGill Restoration is a recognized industry leader in the rehabilitation and preservation of concrete and masonry structures. This includes commercial restoration services on buildings, water structures, parking garages, bridges, grain silos, and industrial facilities.

Since January 2014, when we added a Lincoln office location to better serve our clients in the area.

What do you like about doing business in Lincoln?
The sense of pride that people in Lincoln take in their city and community. In working with business people and owners in Lincoln you get a true sense of their willingness to continue to better themselves and their community.
What kind of community organizations/groups are you involved with?
We are members of LIBA and the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce as well as active supporters of the Make a Wish Foundation, March of Dimes, Joslyn Castle Trust, and Girls, Inc. Tim and Rich are both active members of Entrepreneurs Organization of Nebraska (Tim is also the incoming president).
What do you think makes you different from other companies similar to yours?
Our people, including the working knowledge of our key personnel running the projects and the highly skilled professionals performing the work in the field. The kind of knowledge and passion that we take in our work is something that cannot be learned out of a book or built off a set of blueprints. When performing restoration work, having the experience to say, “We have seen this before and resolved issues like yours previously,” is the only way a business can be successful in our industry. We are the kind of company you call when no one else can seem to figure how to resolve your structures problem, and we take a lot of pride in that.
What has been your most important achievement as a business?
To take over our father’s business (Tim McGill Sr.) that he started back in 1985 and continue to provide the same high-level of restoration services that the business has been known for the past 30 years.
What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced?
To continue to find young people who want to look at the construction/restoration trade as a career. Finding people that have the skill sets paired with the drive to learn a trade is challenging.
What was the biggest turning point in your business?
When the company started to venture off from just doing masonry restoration work, and started to get into other types of restoration work. Today, the masonry restoration portion of our business makes up only
about 20% of our total revenues. Projects that entail structural concrete repairs and specialty coatings make up the majority of our company’s revenues today.
What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years?
With the rebound of the U.S. economy, consumer confidence has definitely come back and businesses are investing and maintaining their building and structures more these days. Also, Lincoln has just recently gone through a major expansion in the downtown area of the city (Pinnacle Bank Arena, The Railyard, etc.). All of those facilities will need services like ours to maintain and upkeep their properties.
What is one goal for your business that you have yet to accomplish?
To continue to develop a client and customer base that helps support a backlog of work during the colder months of the year. We have very detailed-minded and skilled workers, and it’s very important to capture work opportunities that keep them working all year long!
