Union Bank & Trust recently promoted Sara Hernandez to Vice President—Loan Operations and Rita Pfenning to Vice President—Customer Service.

Hernandez joined the bank in 2002 and has over 14 years of industry experience. She is the primary contact for lending division managers, providing operations leadership and direction to all areas of the loan division. Hernandez is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Doane College. She has completed Union Bank’s Leadership Development Program and is a recipient of the 2012 Leadership Resources’ Leadership Behavior Success Award. Hernandez is an active member of Lincoln’s Young Professional Group and the American Cancer Society, and also volunteers for several local non-profit organizations.

Pfenning joined the bank in 2000 and has over 38 years of banking experience. With her promotion, she oversees and leads the retail and lending aspects of six Lincoln branches and manages the FAIR team. A graduate of Wayne State College, Pfenning earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Merchandising. She has served as chairman on the Executive Committee of the Nebraska Bankers Association and currently serves on the Education Advisory Committee. Pfenning volunteers on the hospitality ministry team at St. Marks United Methodist Church.
