Physicians Mutual, a premier provider in individual health, life and retirement insurance products, recently announced that its board of directors named Rob Reed as president and chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2015. Reed currently serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer and has been a member of the board of directors since 2005.

Current Physicians Mutual President and CEO Robert “Bob” Reed will become chairman-elect of the board of directors and remain involved as an advisor to the new president and CEO, effective January 1, 2015. Bob has served as President and CEO of Physicians Mutual for the past 40 years and is only the fourth individual to serve in this capacity since the company’s founding in 1902.

Rob Reed has a long history with Physicians Mutual. He joined Physicians Mutual in 1989, and since has helped the company achieve consistent sales growth and maintain a strong financial position in the market through expansion into new product categories and sales channels.  Rob is a graduate of Georgetown University and holds a master’s degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He is active in the community and has served on the board of directors of a number of local and national organizations.
