Harris Academy of the Arts would like to present its newest instructor, Lee Heerspink! Lee will be joining Harris Academy of the Art’s team of university-trained instructors and will be teaching all ages in beginning to advanced acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and string bass.

Lee Heerspink is a rare multi-talented musician and educator now located in Lincoln, NE. Lee earned his Music Education degree from Hope College (Holland, MI). While at Hope he toured with the chamber orchestra on bass, began singing in his first rock band, performed weekly with a folk acoustic trio, and began to really appreciate playing guitar in the jazz band. Lee continued his education at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL and earned his Master’s in Jazz Performance.  For three years after graduation he taught guitar lessons full time while playing with various cover bands, jazz combos, big bands, and praise/worship groups. In 2010, Lee auditioned for and accepted a position playing guitar in the US Air Force Heartland of America Band in Omaha, NE. For four years he served as musical director for multiple Air Force rock and top 40 bands providing high-energy, morale-boosting concerts to troops both stateside and overseas.
