The Sowers were formed in the 1930’s, and the organization has been active and involved in the community through a variety of events and projects since.  Bethany Parade, The Star City Parade, Cornhusker State Games, Fourth Grade Foresters, and the Governor’s Conference are just a few of the local projects that the Sowers have been involved with.  Recently the group made the decision to move forward in new projects to help promote their motto of “Making the lives of children and families in our community a little brighter.”

Recently, the Sowers provided the seed money to start Rocket House.  This program runs at Northeast High School after classes are dismissed for the day.  It offers a “safe place” for children to interact.  Tutors and resources are also available to help students with their homework.  To date, this one of a kind organization in Lincoln will continue to donate to worthy groups and causes in and around Lincoln.  Total donations are close to the $4 million mark.  In addition, another $54,000 has been awarded to the community for scholarships.  For more information about the Sowers Club, please visit www.thesowersclub.com or call (402) 438-2244.
