Nebraska Restaurant Association is proud to announce that Shawn Eichorst, University of Nebraska Director of Athletics, will be the keynote speaker at their annual “Taste of Nebraska”, to be held at the Omaha Hilton, 1001 Cass Street, Omaha, on Monday, April 28, from 6-9 pm.  “Kentucky Derby” will be the theme for this year’s event. The annual event is an opportunity to recognize the members of the Nebraska Restaurant Association who continually strive to bring the best in food service to Nebraska.  Winners of the Eastern Nebraska Hospitality and Greater Nebraska Hospitality Awards, and Allied Member of the Year, will also be announced during the evening.

In keeping with the traditions of the Derby, attendees are invited to participate in the “Parade of Hats” and a bourbon tasting. Tickets are $75 each or $700 for a table for 10.  A silent auction will be held in conjunction with the event to help raise funds for the Nebraska Restaurant Association’s Hospitality Education Foundation ProStart® program, a high school culinary arts program designed to develop the best and the brightest into tomorrow’s restaurant and food service leaders. Hundreds of Nebraska students participate in the 50 one-year and two-year ProStart programs in high schools across the state.  Students demonstrate the skills they learned at regional and state competitions. Winners of the state competition receive an expense paid trip to represent Nebraska at the National ProStart competition in Minneapolis.  Participants in the two-year program are eligible for college scholarships.

The Nebraska Restaurant Association has been the voice of Nebraska’s food service industry, representing, educating, and promoting the interests of its members since 1945.  For more information about Nebraska Restaurant Association or this event, please contact Brandy Nielson at (402) 488-3999 Ext. 2, or bnielson@windstream.net.  You may also visit their website at www.nebraska-dining.org and follow them on Facebook at facebook.com/NebraskaRestaurantAssociation.
