Operation Veterans Encouraging Recovery (OVER) is proud to introduce the first Recovery House in Nebraska that is run by veterans for veterans. With OVER’s hard work and the generosity of individuals, members of OVER, local businesses and organizations, the new OVER House located at 625 S, 27th Street in Lincoln is officially open! An open house event on May 15th offered guests the chance to tour the new house and talk with members of OVER.
When a previous house for veterans in recovery was closed due to lack of government funding, the veterans of OVER (graduates of the Lincoln VA SUDP) found out that although the government can be very helpful, the government can only do so much. The former Promise House was closed and six Lincoln veterans were faced (once again) with finding a place to live. OVER vowed that this would never happen again, and began making plans for the new house.
The OVER House has the capacity to give up to five veterans a home. However, this is not the end but just the beginning.
