Northeast Sertoma Club donated two gifts totaling $11,000 to provide an amplification system enabling teachers’ voices to be more clearly heard by Norwood Park students in all ten classrooms.

This gift provides each classroom with a flat panel speaker using wireless FM technology enabling all students to hear more clearly with lessened pressure on the teacher’s voice. The systems are in place now and the training schedule for teachers and students ensures that students will have access on the first day of school this fall.

NE Sertoma of Lincoln has a 45 year history of meeting community needs through volunteer service.  In addition to improving life for those impacted by hearing loss, the club annually donates $28,000 to more than 15 organizations doing good in our community.

The club meets weekly at 7:00 a.m. Thursdays in the community room at HyVee, 5010 “O” Street.  The breakfast and speaker program concludes at 8:00.  Community-minded individuals are encouraged to attend a meeting as guests to learn more about the club’s projects and activities.  Call or email Sharon Cunning, (402) 540-1515, sharoncunning@gmail.com to learn more.
