The pints have been donated, the pounds weighed, the results are in. And this year, Nebraska Community Blood Bank’s (NCBB) Pints for Pounds campaign more than doubled its goals to help fight hunger while saving lives in our community.

Throughout this eighth-annual  two-week Pint for Pounds campaign, which ran June 4 to 24, 2014, NCBB blood donors stepped up to donate over 2,350 pints of blood. For each pint of donated blood, campaign sponsor, Russ’s Market will donate the equivalent of one pound of food to help fill the shelves at the Food Bank of Lincoln.

And the impact doesn’t end there!

Blood donors and NCBB staff also made monetary contributions or dropped off non-perishable food items at Nebraska Community Blood Bank locations—nearly 3,000 pounds worth—bringing the total of much-needed food provided to the Food Bank of Lincoln to nearly 4,500 pounds!  For more information about the Food Bank of Lincoln, visit www.lincolnfoodbank.org.
