Approximately 100 guests and staff gathered at Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (MTKO) on Saturday September 8th to enjoy a special “Brunch in the Garden” event and celebrate Matt Talbot’s 20-Year Anniversary of service to the Lincoln Community. Guests toured the vegetable and flower garden at MTKO and enjoyed a delightful morning of homemade quiche, fresh fruit, and dill and zucchini breads made with ingredients from MTKO’s Hope Garden. A short program featured comments from Mayor Chris Beutler, Executive Director Susanne Blue, and Volunteer Coordinator Sydne Wirrick-Knox who recognized sixteen hunger relief volunteer teams for their 20 years of continuous and faithful service.

Serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach is a hunger relief and outreach center for those in need. Last year Matt Talbot provided 101,123 nutritious meals to the hungry in Lincoln and provided over 21,000 homeless prevention services such as vision clinics, drug & alcohol evaluations, life skills classes, nutrition counseling, transitional housing, case management, and help with obtaining vital identification documents.
