The LUX Center for the Arts will present “From the Wild to the Proscenium” by former LUX Center artist-in-residence Heather Jo Davis. The first Friday opening reception will be Friday, October 3 from 5-8 p.m.  Davis creates clay figures to explore the relationships between humans and animals, including the notion of humans as just another animal. The opening and show are free and open to the public. The show will be on view through October 31.

The exhibition “Return as Departure” by Ying Zhu is currently on view in the West Gallery through October 25. Zhu transformed the LUX Center gallery with a beautiful mixed media installation featuring video, glass and thread. Working with unusual materials in a thought provoking way is a hallmark of Zhu’s work. “Return as Departure” is sponsored by David Clark Framing.

LUX Center for the Arts is free and open to the public.

Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  First Friday of each month, 11a.m. to 8 p.m. Free parking is available on the west side of the building just off of 48th and Baldwin.  For more information about the LUX Center for the Arts visit www.luxcenter.org.
