Effective February 24, Cornhusker Place is changing its name to The Bridge Behavioral Health. The organization, originally formed in 1983 as the community’s Civil Protective Custody program, has evolved over the past 30 years to become a comprehensive treatment center for substance use disorders. The Bridge Behavioral Health remains at its current location at 721 K Street in the South Haymarket. The new website is www.TheBridgeNebraska.org.

Phil Tegeler, executive director at The Bridge Behavioral Health, explains the change as reflective of the professional and extensive services provided by the agency. “The new name and brand displays our commitment to treating men and women with substance use disorders along with the behavioral health components that often accompany them.”

In addition to Civil Protective Custody – the program that provides a safe and medically-supervised place for law enforcement to bring intoxicated individuals that might be a danger to themselves or others – The Bridge Behavioral Health has several other programs. Services include: voluntary withdrawal support, outpatient treatment and recovery support for men and women as well as long and short term residential treatment for men.

The Bridge Behavioral Health is CARF accredited in Crisis Stabilization, Detoxification, Intensive Outpatient Treatment and Residential Treatment of alcohol and other drugs/addictions.
