The 18 B&R Stores in Nebraska and Southwest Iowa embarked on their annual forget-me-not campaign in 2014, and raised $12,174.28 in the month of September. Cashiers at Russ’s Market, Super Saver, Save Best, and Apple Market stores in Nebraska and Iowa asked their customers to join the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.  As part of the effort, cashiers were given an opportunity to win a TV, donated to the Association. Heather Cooper, from the 27th and Cornhusker Super Saver in Lincoln, won the TV for her efforts.

Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease will rapidly escalate, increasing well beyond today’s more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s. In Nebraska alone, there are over 33,000 people living with Alzheimer’s. For more information or to make a donation, visit alz.org/walk.
