The Nebraska Health Care Association has named Sen. Bob Krist as the recipient of the 2014 State Impact Award. This prestigious award honors an individual who has made a significant impact on Nebraska’s nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and the people they care for.

Sen. Krist worked collaboratively with the Nebraska Health Care Association this year to bring forth LB854, which directed the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services to delay issuance of the request for proposals for Medicaid managed long-term services and supports.  The bill, signed into law by Gov. Dave Heineman in March, allows stakeholders to provide meaningful input to ensure that Nebraska is ready to implement a managed care model for Medicaid and that the new system is properly designed. Converting the current Medicaid fee-for-service structure into a managed care model will be a significant challenge for the long-term care sector of the state’s health care delivery system.

The State Impact Award was presented to Sen. Krist at the Nebraska Nursing Facility Association/Nebraska Assisted Living Association Fall Convention awards banquet on September 17 in La Vista.

Through advocacy, education and general support, The Nebraska Health Care Association represents member non-profit and proprietary nursing facility, assisted living, and hospice providers, as well as member licensed practical nurses.
