Milder Manor, serving the Lincoln area with long term care and rehabilitation services, is happy to announce that Valoree Brethouwer has completed her studies to become a Registered Horticultural Therapist (HTR).

The American Horticultural Therapy Association awards this professional registration to those taking additional courses in human sciences and horticultural therapy, along with a BS degree in horticulture.  A supervised internship must be completed as well, which Valoree did at North Carolina Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill, NC.

The Life Enrichment department at Milder Manor is excited to have Valoree as a team member, which will enable them to increase options of social, leisure, and recreational pursuits.  She will assist residents who choose to participate in either group settings or one-to-one interventions by enriching their physical and mental lives through various activities, reminisces and sensory stimulation.

Milder Manor is one of 32 facilities owned or managed by the Vetter Health Services of Omaha, NE.  The care center’s administrator and staff develop plans to continuously improve their services and facility with support from the VHS network.  Operating decisions are made locally to ensure that Milder Manor remains responsive to the needs of its residents and community.
