CountryHouse Residences, in partnership with fellow sponsors Bryan Medical Center and the Alzheimer’s Association Nebraska Chapter, recently announced an upcoming continuing education opportunity for health care professionals on Thursday, May 21st.  “Coping With Challenging Behaviors” will be presented by Dementia Care Education Specialist Teepa Snow, MS.  The event is divided into two different sessions that will target specific aspects of the disease and strategies for effectively coping and handling situations that arise.

Session One: For Health Care Professionals from 8:30 a.m.-Noon. Learn why the person you are helping exhibits difficult or challenging behaviors and what you can do about it in order to achieve better outcomes through problem-solving and coping strategies.

Session Two: For Caregivers, Counselors & Professionals from 1:30-5 p.m. This is a coaching class especially for families, counselors and other health care professionals. Specifically, you’ll learn how to better assist those who need help but don’t want it by using a positive physical approach, supportive communication, meaningful activity and other techniques.

The event will be held at the Bryan Medical Center West Campus Conference Center, located at 2300 S. 16th Street in Lincoln.  Visit alz.org/Nebraska and click on the Teepa Snow Event link to register.
