La Paloma Mexican Restaurant is teaming up with the Anglers of the Blue Moon, Nebraska State Stroke Association and the Izaak Walton League to raise funds for picnic tables, benches and parking lot resurfacing for the new special-needs fishing piers at Bowling Lake in Air Park.

On Tuesday, April 8, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., 15 percent of all dining proceeds at La Paloma, 84th and Holdrege St., will go toward improvements at the piers, which are designed to allow those with mobility challenges to safely fish. The evening, hosted by Nebraska outdoorsman Dick Turpin, will include raffle drawings for various prizes.
Construction of the piers was completed last summer after a two-year fundraising effort. Now the Anglers of the Blue Moon must maintain an endowment fund for improvements and ongoing maintenance by Lincoln Parks and Recreation.

Donations can be made by clicking on the Bowling Lake Fishing Pier Project link at www.NebraskaStroke.org or checks can be mailed to Nebraska State Stroke Association, 6900 L St., Lincoln, NE, 68510. Please note Fishing Pier in the subject line.
