Did you know the #1 concern customers have with plumbing, heating, and air conditioning service is the hidden cost of technicians leaving to get parts? John Henry’s Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning owner John Henry (Jack) Zohner learned that concept at a national conference he attended. He recognized that concern was valid and took action.

John-Henry's-logoThe solution was clear: bring the necessary parts to each job site.  Subsequently, John Henry’s purchased their first cube style truck and outfitted it with parts.  Upon using the new truck, he realized the standard storage racks appeared to be full but space seemed wasted. Modifying the storage shelf design allowed 60% more parts!

John Henry’s intent is to maintain as close to 100% of needed parts on board as possible. Need a water heater, sump pump, garbage disposal, toilet, faucets, etc.? Odds are it’s on their cube trucks. The same can be said for John Henry’s heating and air conditioning cube trucks.

Although the initial investment of a cube truck is approximately three times that of a standard van, the overall labor savings was substantial as this modification allowed for more service calls to be completed each day.  Additional parts on the cube trucks also reduced the need for emergency deliveries. Materials used each day from the cube trucks are replenished by night deliveries after the technicians are home. A bar code system helped automate that process.  To further meet customer needs, John Henry’s technicians also have field computers to allow on site billing and inventory control.

Another labor savings John Henrys implemented is dispatching the fleet by utilizing GPS. Technicians are typically dispatched from their homes to a nearby location and back close to home for their final call each day. GPS has proven to be a cost savings tool to save labor and also manage vehicle maintenance according to mileage.  Jack Zohner feels “this common sense approach provides better service by reducing labor and overall costs for our customers.  Eventually our entire service fleet will be only cube trucks”.

John Henry’s is locally owned and operated by Debra and Jack Zohner. Their daughter, Lindsey Reinke, is the Human Resource and Marketing Director. Lindsey’s husband, Joe Reinke, is a Master Plumber that does Plumbing Service and estimation.  John Henrys provides both a family and team atmosphere that makes it a fun place to work. This goes far beyond the pay and benefits—they are a great team of talented people who work together for a common cause. They support each other and provide the best customer experience possible.

John Henrys is the only plumbing, heating, and air conditioning company in our community to win the Better Business Bureau Integrity Award. Last year John Henrys was voted the KFOR Best of Lincoln award. John Henrys also was awarded the Lennox Centurion award that goes to the top 5% of Lennox dealers in North America.

Jack Zohner feels “the needs of our customers will continue to change the way we do business. Their needs are a moving target, which must be understood so we can change and improve. Businesses either grow or fail as a result of meeting the needs of customers.”  John Henry’s is committed to being proactive in reviewing and modifying their procedures and equipment, in order to ensure they are regularly exceeding their customers’ expectations.
