Third Generation Builder is a custom residential home building company owned and operated by Stephanie Krueger Ponce. Stephanie is a “3rd Generation” Krueger, partaking in the family legacy and business by owning and operating her own residential construction company which currently has ten homes under construction; seven in The Woodlands at Yankee Hill neighborhood and three in the Vavrina Meadows neighborhood. Presently out of the ten homes under construction, three are available for purchase in Vavrina Meadows and one is available for purchase in The Woodlands. An 11th home will start construction and be listed for sale in The Woodlands by December 2013. JR Knopp with Nebraska Home Sales currently works with Krueger Ponce and is the listing agent for homes constructed by Third Generation Builder.
Mrs. Krueger Ponce started in the home building business in 2009 as the market was already on a downturn; but has been able to grow her business year over year since inception and to date has constructed and sold 23 homes, averaging over four homes constructed and sold each year. 2013 and 2014 are setting up to be the strongest for the business with six homes being sold in 2013 and an estimated eight to ten homes being sold in 2014.
When asked about what led Krueger Ponce to start her own construction company, she responded, “I wanted to follow in my dad and grandfather’s footsteps but create something for myself.” Krueger Ponce is referring to her father, Rick Krueger and her grandfather, Calvin Krueger who have both been longtime Lincoln residential and commercial land developers as well as owning companies that build and lease commercial properties. “Growing up I watched my dad and grandpa have such a passion for building; as they would say ‘expanding Lincoln’. I feel like building is my way of helping the city of Lincoln continue to expand and grow. As I began working in my business and building homes for my clients, I found that what I enjoyed most was making sure my clients really get the things that they want in their homes, so that later on they don’t have to second guess their choices or decisions.” When asked who her most consistent client is and who she likes to work with best Krueger Ponce responded energetically, “I really enjoy working with a wide variety of clients: young families, retired couples, single individuals. I think what I offer to my customers and what they appreciate most is I have a variety of plans that fit many people’s tastes. What doesn’t change, no matter what plan is chosen, is the quality, time and attention to detail that I put into each home I build. When I first started building homes, I completed all the interior finish work myself, so I know what it takes to finish a home with integrity. I’m not able to do the finish work today because I have to manage and oversee more inventory, but I know what I want in a finished product and I consistently and constantly communicate my expectations to my sub-contractors. Regardless if my customer is a custom presold client or if I am finishing one of my listed homes that is not under contract; the home is of the same quality in structure and execution with differentiations being chosen finishes.”
As stated earlier, 2014 is shaping up to be a busy and productive year for Third Generation Builder. With nine homes slated to finish construction, the company is anticipating having at least three homes featured in the Lincoln Home Builder’s Association Spring Parade of Homes in 2014. When asked what Krueger Ponce likes to do in her down time, she sort of shrugged and said, “I don’t have a ton of down time, but I enjoy watching and supporting Husker Volleyball, being a volunteer and helping at my church Piedmont Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and spending time with my family (my husband Andy Ponce as well as my immediate and extended family in Lincoln).”
