Shopping Downtown is About to Get Even Better.

On the 2nd Anniversary of the opening of Embellish, owner Ashlie Hadden is taking the opportunity to celebrate by expanding into a much needed realm of downtown shopping–men’s clothes.  Geared toward young professionals, CUFF is located inside Embellish and features elevated casual clothing for men. Styles range from rugged to preppy and allow men to express their own sense of style.  Featured Brands include:

JACHS NY: “JACHS calls to mind timeless style from another era, modernized with unexpected details and finishes. Ruggedly sophisticated, our classic shirts are luxuriously comfortable, while our bottoms are timeworn like your favorite pair of pants. Our philosophy: a man should look great without really trying.”

Marshall Artist: “Marshall Artist clothing was founded in 2000 and quickly became known as one of the UK’s best loved menswear brands. Ten years on and we are still here doing what we love – creating quality modern tailored garments.”

Farah Vintage: “Farah is the Original Casual Company, the brand has remained true to its principles and true to its heritage. Farah is the rejection of formality, the repeal of conformity. Farah is an identity.”

Cuff doesn’t want to take itself too seriously.  Intermingled with the clothes are some of the core instruments of being a modern “man”.  Flasks and coasters with humorous sayings give the store a sense of humor while whiskey stones and drink shakers are essential tools for the young entertainer.

New Store, Loft and Craft, Now Open in the Parish Project

Juliane Glasco and Alison Hill entered their future space in Parrish Studios “just to look.” The exposed brick, high ceilings, and beautiful lighting quickly changed looking to leaping. They envisioned a space that housed refinished furniture and accessories with a modern edge, moving away from traditional antique furniture. Loft and Craft was the result of shared passion for interior design and matching style with affordability.

As co-owner of Stella, a clothing boutique, Glasco is a familiar face to those that frequently shop downtown. Selecting the right furniture for display is one of her favorite tasks, Glasco said, and she began to look for an opportunity to expand into the realm of furniture. Although Hill is new to the title of entrepreneur, she was ready to leave behind her desk job for the chance to pursue her creative interests. As Hill explained, they both love the hunt for great pieces with hidden potential and the thrill when they see their vision become reality. “Through our design, display, and orientation, our mission is to provide customers a unique experience that will allow them to explore their own taste and individuality,” says Juliane and Alison.  Both search typical sources for vintage furniture, but what elevates their pieces is the restoration process. They approach restoration with a distinctly modern eye resulting in singular pieces comparable to West Elm, CB2, or Crate and Barrel.
