				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>JetSplash was locally founded in February of 2003.  Currently, they operate four stand-alone car washes in Lincoln. All Jet Splash locations focus on providing customers with a quality exterior wash in just FIVE minutes.  Their first location also has a detail center, which offers services ranging from basic interior cleaning to full restoration detailing.</p>
<p><strong>JetSplash</strong> strives to better their company on a daily basis in order to provide their customers with the best possible service, while staying current on all new technology in the industry.  Additionally, JetSplash focuses on cleaning cars safely and in an environmentally-friendly manner. Their company has been utilizing customer feedback for the last ten years, in order to provide customers with services that meet all types of car washing needs. All daily operations are currently handled by Matt Toombs and Ty Prucha.</p>
<p>What do you like about doing business in Lincoln? People are generally friendly — it’s a small town atmosphere in a moderately sized city.  Our customers simply want a quality service in a timely manner, at a fair price.</p>
<p>What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years? Over 7 years ago we changed from a full service wash to an express exterior model and added free vacuums.  With a struggling economy, most customers would rather pay for an exterior wash and vacuum themselves rather than paying for the service.  Also, customers didn’t have time to wait for interior cleaning.  The express exterior model turned 20-25 wait times to 5-10 minutes or less.</p>
<p>What is the most unique or interesting thing about your business that most people don’t know? The car wash itself is actually very complex.  Our computer that controls the wash has over 100 functions and is integrated with a sophisticated point-of-sale system to make sure customers receive the wash they paid for, and all services on each wash are provided.</p>

<p>What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced? Growing from one wash and 35 employees to four washes and 120+ employees has been a huge challenge.  We have expanded tremendously in the last 4 years, building three new locations during that time.  When we had only one wash it was easy to maintain good supervision on the equipment and employees to meet the expectations of our customers.  We have changed our internal focus to training, policies and procedures.  This year we expect to wash about 500,000 vehicles.  That’s a lot of responsibility for management and employees!</p>
<p>What has been your most important achievement as a business? We have really made a good name for ourselves, and are proud that many people recognize our name and brand.  They also know what to expect when they visit our facilities.  It is always a challenge to start a new business and JetSplash was no exception.  Our first year, we washed about 40,000 cars.  We knew the success rate of start-up businesses and realized we had to work hard to build trust to form a customer base. Surviving the first few years was the most important thing.  Now having the chance to expand and thrive in a very unstable economy is something we are very proud of.</p>
<p>What kind of community organizations &amp; groups are you involved with? We have the Drive Clean Student Awareness Program for all of the schools in Lincoln and the surrounding areas.  This program was created for high school students attending prom as an initiative to stay drug and alcohol free during the prom season and not drive under the influence.  All students who take the pledge to “Drive Clean” receive a free car wash and are entered into a drawing for a free detail and a gift certificate to Gary Michaels Clothier.  We want to support local schools to help keep students safe on the road.  It is our job as a community to expose these juniors and seniors to constant reminders about staying drug and alcohol free. We also have a fundraising program for any local organizations raising money or non-profit organizations.  They receive 50% of all the sales they assist in making.  We have worked with over fifty organizations to help them raise money for expenses, trips, and equipment.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Las Vegas has yet again hosted one of our business adventures, and certainly never ceases to entertain us!  Whether you are taking in a luxurious dining experience, one of their spectacular shows, or just stopping off the strip to grab a meal and a cocktail while taking in scenic and eventful Las Vegas, there truly is something for everyone.  This trip was a quick one, but we still packed in a couple fantastic restaurants and even caught a stand-up comedy show&#8211;just enough to make us want to stay for more!</p>

Once we found out that Ruth Chris Steakhouse had a new location in Las Vegas, we simply had to dine there!  They have taken over the restaurant space in Harrah’s that was formerly The Range, in a great upstairs location that overlooks the strip.  Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a great booth that generously accommodated the size of our party, in a corner location that offered a panoramic view of vibrant Las Vegas.  We sampled a few of their incredible appetizers, including the Spicy Lobster, and shared their signature Ruth’s Chop Salad for a starter also.  We were told that the Spicy Lobster is one of their most popular dishes, and we definitely know why—the flavor is absolutely amazing!  The chop salad is a wonderful mixture of original ingredients highlighted with a lemon basil dressing that is to die for!  Our party was also presented with an extra treat, the Veal Osso Buco Ravioli, which is their saffron-infused pasta filled with veal osso buco and fresh mozzarella in a white wine demi-glace and garnished with sautéed baby spinach.  We can’t emphasize enough how tasty this dish really is!  For our main courses, we tried the T-Bone and Lobster Tail, Chilean Sea Bass Puttanesca and the Ribeye with Asparagus and Potatoes au Gratin.   The quality and cook of the steaks were perfection, and they are served on a sizzling platter that stays very hot for quite some time.  While this maintains a great level of heat for your food, we recommend ordering any steak a bit under your temperature preference as it continues to cook after being presented.  The sides were equally delicious, and also large enough to share!  The service from the minute we were greeted all the way throughout our dining experience was impeccably gracious and accommodating, and Ruth Chris Steakhouse definitely gets two thumbs way up for their fare and atmosphere as well!</p>

<p>Fat Bar, which is originally the home of Fat Burger, was celebrating the 1st Anniversary of their newly renovated all-outdoor bar so we decided to stop in after the Eddie Griffin show and check it out!  Fat Bar offers a patio-style bar and diner, with misters and heaters for a comfortable atmosphere year-round, and large plasma TVs that can be viewed from any seat in the bar.  If you’re not watching the TVs, there is plenty of entertainment to be found in “people watching” on the Strip!  Fat Bar offers the original Fat Burger menu of various sized specialty burgers, and you can substitute chicken, turkey or veggie versions if beef isn’t your preference.  We shared their largest burger, and weren’t even able to finish it!  They have an extensive signature drink menu as well, with a variety of mixed drinks like the “Vegas Vacation” and “Bloody Fat Mary” that you can take with you in fun to-go glasses!  This is a casual, very reasonably priced, fun place to stop in for a burger and a drink if you need a quick place to rest and regroup or stay to hang out and take in the outdoor sights of Las Vegas!</p>

<p>When we stepped into the King’s Room at the Rio, we realized it was a fairly intimate space and found a good spot where we might go unnoticed by the sharp-witted comedian Eddie Griffin.  As we suspected, he opened the show by picking on everyone in the audience equally!  The King’s Room is a smaller venue, but tastefully decorated and cozy, with up-close seating and a server available so you don’t have to leave the show to get a cocktail.  Eddie Griffin definitely delivers a stand-up routine packed with laughs and entertainment for everyone in attendance.  Anybody who knows about Eddie Griffin knows that political correctness is not his forte, and we definitely recommend this raucous show for mature audiences only!  However, his animated delivery and outrageous humor were certainly amusing—he even went over the anticipated length to give us an extra wild show!</p>
<p><em>Our latest visit to Las Vegas may have been short, but it was nothing short of fabulous!  If you want enjoy an exquisite fine dining experience, Ruth Chris Steakhouse is one of the best options available.  If you are looking for casual dining and entertainment, the Fat Bar is a great stop and Eddie Griffin is good for some serious laughs as long as you don’t take him too seriously!  As for us, we’ll be seeing you again soon Las Vegas!</em></p>

Don’t let his short amount of time as a manager raise an eyebrow though; Keitges has been in the industry for 16 years. He was the man you would go to when you needed to get the job done. Be it filling cylinders, shipping and receiving products, purchasing products and equipment, ensuring safety and compliance, being a driver for deliveries, as well as being an inside sales person, he has done it all.</p>

<p>Keitges started his Airgas career at the Omaha branch in 2011, where he and his team serviced from Omaha to Lincoln and everywhere in between. There, he did management training, spent time learning different tasks, and worked different positions throughout the store. When the Lincoln branch was newly constructed in January of 2012, Keitges took his fresh knowledge and management skills to the new location ready to serve Lincoln from much closer than the Omaha branch had been. The branch has been part of the Chamber of Commerce and the American Welding Society for the past year.</p>
<p>The Lincoln branch prides itself on what sets them apart from other companies. The Lincoln branch greatly values customer service and strives to make every customer experience a positive one. The branch has Medical, Specialty Gas, Safety, and Weld Process Specialists that focus only on those market segments, making it easy for customers to ask specific questions and get advice.</p>
<p>Although personal service seems to be becoming a rarity, the Lincoln branch in particular holds itself accountable to provide individual service at the highest level. The store follows specific principles to provide this service. The branch finds solutions and not excuses, ensuring that any problems are resolved in a respectable and timely fashion. The branch also works closely with customers, anticipating their needs and exceeding their expectations to guarantee excellent service. In addition to excellent service, the branch strives to drive decision-making authority as close to the customer as possible. As reported to the Lincoln community at the United Way Annual Meeting, which was held on April 15th, the results totaled $6,739,560 which was an 8.79% increase over the 2011 campaign. The United Way fund distribution process is a volunteer-based initiative with focus on high impact needs of our children and those in crisis. Additionally, the proceeds assist those in our community with chronic health conditions through the partnership with Community Health Charities.</p>

<p><em><strong>What do you think makes you different from other companies similar to yours?</strong></em> &#8211; At Husker Rehabilitation, we listen and focus on the individualized needs of our patients.  Some of the areas that our Physical Therapists have specialized training in includes Postural Restoration, Graston Technique™, Sympathetic Neurologic Downtraining &amp; Pelvic Floor Dysfunction.  We are all manually oriented which means we get our hands on the clients finding the source of pain and don’t just treat the symptoms.</p>

<p><em><strong>What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years?</strong></em> &#8211; One challenge to health care is rising patient co-pays and cost of insurance.  Insurance companies denying a patient’s care for undefined reasons is also very frustrating for patients and healthcare providers both.  Each year, in general, personal health insurance costs and premiums rise substantially for individuals but reimbursement for services to health care providers decreases overall.</p>
<p>As a result we are seeing more clients being referred to our facilities because of our outcomes and the results the clients are getting.  It is important to control costs not only within our own company but also for the client.  People are much more aware of this than ever before with the ever changing health care system.</p>
<p><em><strong>What do you see happening with the business in the next five years?</strong></em> &#8211; It is the goal of Husker Rehabilitation to continue to grow, both in location and specialized services provided by highly trained Physical Therapists and Physical Therapists Assistants. Lincoln is growing and we see ourselves growing with it.</p>
<p><em><strong>What has been your most important achievement as a business?</strong></em> &#8211; My most important achievement as a physical therapist is completing the course work and tests to achieve my Certification in Pelvic Physical Therapy.</p>
<p><em><strong>What was the biggest turning point in your business?</strong></em> &#8211; Being hired on by Husker Rehab, which allowed me to expand and make significant gains in the area of Pelvic Floor Health.  The support that I receive by the owners and staff is second to none.  This has allowed me to concentrate on what I need to do as a Physical Therapist and provide the best quality of care possible.</p>
<p><em><strong>What is the most unique or interesting thing about your business that most people don’t know?</strong></em> &#8211; Specialist practice in pelvic physical therapy is offered at the North Lincoln Husker Rehabilitation location.  Pelvic physical therapy includes treatment of urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, pelvic floor weakness, pelvic and abdominal pain.</p>
<p><em><strong>What is one goal for your business that you have yet to accomplish?</strong></em> &#8211; The expansion of the Pelvic Floor Health division is still a number one goal of the practice.  There are so many people out there, men and women, that are in need of our services.  We will continue to make people aware that there is help for them.  The more we can get the word out the quicker we can help these individuals in need.</p>

We recently added a web-based risk management portal called ClientConnect. This is a great tool for our clients to have access to information to help with OSHA compliance, safety training, human resource questions, and wellness. In the last year we started offering a feature that enables our commercial clients to have their insurance policies in a CD format instead of the traditional policy booklet, and a service that allows our clients to issue certificates of insurance online. We continue to add content to our website and will remain proactive to provide our clients with innovative solutions.</p>
<p><em><strong>What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced?</strong></em> – Currently, it is trying to stay on top of all the changes that companies are facing with the new health care reform. 				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>First Choice Roll Offs</strong> is starting its 14th construction season this spring.  Steve and Ryan Hatten partnered with Mark and Joe Sullivan to start this locally owned company in May of 2000.  Since Mark’s retirement, Steve and Ryan handle all of the daily details from sales to maintenance and administration, as well as the picking up and delivering the boxes.  Their customer base ranges from the large construction companies, to home builders, roofers, remodelers, and the do-it-yourselfer.  They offer three sizes of containers, 15, 20, and 30 cubic yard Roll-off boxes, thus providing the right size to fit your need and location.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>People get worn down.  They get stuck in a rut, they get down on themselves and their career and they perform below their expectations in their home life, their professional life and their community.  We’re human, it happens!!  It’s likely that you’ve experienced that feeling of “I know I can do better, I just don’t know how!” some time in your life and you may be experiencing it right at this second.  If you’re like me, you probably think the best way to combat this feeling is to make major changes in your life.  You come up with an overwhelming list of drastic improvements, stick to it for a day or two, then start realizing you can’t keep it up and feel like a big failure.</p>
<p>Sound familiar?  You may think your problem is that you have no will power or just aren’t trying hard enough or don’t want it enough…but that usually isn’t the case.  Have you ever thought about the power of little changes?  How little am I talking about?  Well, according to Tom Connellan, author of Change Your World in 71 Days, the change you need to make is 1%.  Just 1%?? You might be thinking.  Yes, just 1%.  Because, with the power of compound interest, if you just improve on something 1% for 71 days, at the end of that time frame, you will be twice as good at it.  Don’t ask me to do the math, that isn’t my strong suit, but I believe that Tom has done his math and that by making this very achievable change, you really can turn your life around.</p>
<p>If you don’t believe me, pick up Change Your World in 71 Days and find out for yourself!  This is a quick little book to read and it shouldn’t take you more than a day or two to get through.  Instead of drily explaining his subject matter, Tom writes the book in story form from the perspective of Jack, a salesperson and family man who feels he is not reaching his potential in any part of his life and that he is slowly losing enthusiasm for a career he once loved and excelled at.  Now it’s obvious from the writing that Connellan’s not a fiction writer, but the story does get the point across and makes for an easy read.  We go through not only how the ‘Law of 71’ changes Jack’s career, but also how it affects his home life, his involvement in the community and how he shares it with others.  Through his help, his daughter improves her study habits and her grades, his wife is able to get her diet and exercise program back on track, his friends are able to improve their marriage, etc.  The examples might seem a bit reaching, but they are there to show that the ‘Law of 71’ can be applied to any part of your life and help you achieve improvement.</p>
<p>There are no earth-shattering revelations in Change Your World in 71 Days, it’s more explaining how small changes add up and the value of persistence.  However, page after page you are reminded that the longest journey begins with just one small step and that making just a 1% improvement every day will eventually lead to very large things.  This book is recommended for all those who just want to do BETTER and are willing to put in a little extra effort to get there.</p>
